What's
the story?

Urban VPN’s previous website was outdated, built on Node.js and had no content management system, so every change was costly and cumbersome. The goal was to move to WordPress, preserve organic rankings, expand the site into more languages and handle millions of visitors a month.

So what
did we do?

  • Clean WordPress development

We built a new WordPress site with clean server-side and client-side code and a minimum of plugins.

  • Content migration and 301s

We migrated all content from the old site and set up 301 redirects to preserve organic rankings.

  • High-traffic infrastructure

We hosted the site on three servers, main, cache and backup, to handle millions of visitors a month.

  • About 10 more languages

We expanded the site into about 10 additional languages with WPML and CSS adjustments for each one.

  • Download tracking

We connected all software download events to Google Tag Manager for accurate measurement.

  • Performance and QA

We optimized for speed and ran thorough quality checks before launch.
